An exciting opportunity to bring the ancient world to life

pompeii_forum.jpg

We are so excited to share the amazing work of Lithodomos, a world-leading hybrid archaeology/CGI specialist focused on designing and creating historically accurate 2D/3D reconstructions of culturally significant heritage sites and icons from around the world. We really appreciate their commitment to historical authenticity and education, and are excited to share their work with our community.

The company was founded by archaeologists and through their Ancient World Console you can purchase "tours" of ancient sites. These tours can be viewed via personal devices if you buy multiple 'seats' or projected front-of-class if you just have one. However you choose to use them they provide a really nice way to bring the ancient world into your classroom.

Lithodomos have offered us the status of an 'affiliate' organisation, which has amazing potential for users of our materials; we can't wait to see what we might be able to achieve together.

Please note, all links on this page are 'affiliate' links. If you purchase via these links then CSCP gets a small donation from the sale which will be used to support our work in Classics Education - thanks in advance if you do decide to give it a go!

If you try out these resources please do let us know your thoughts!

If you have any questions about the technology, its requirements or Lithodomos in general please do email then on info@lithodomosvr.com

Virtual Reality and the CLC

Lithodomos have kindly created a prototype mini-tour for use with CLC Stage 4 exploring the Roman forum, it includes:

  • three reconstructions: the forum area near the shrine of the Lares, the basilica and the macellum.
  • a two minute audio introduction to each site
  • 13 additional images to support use of the reconstructions
